Not all cases appear online. Some are excluded under Alaska Administrative Rule 40(a). These include juvenile cases, sealed records, certain domestic violence records, and criminal cases that ended in full acquittal or dismissal where 60 days have passed, per AS 22.35.030. What Juneau Court Dockets Contain
Court docket records in Juneau City and Borough document everything that happens in a case from filing through final judgment. The docket is essentially a log of activity. It shows when each document was filed, when hearings were scheduled, what orders were entered, and how the case was resolved. Every case type has its own docket entries based on the nature of the proceedings.
Criminal case dockets include the charges filed against the defendant, the arraignment date, bail and release conditions, pretrial hearing dates, any motions filed by either side, trial dates, verdicts, and sentencing information. The file may also contain booking records, charging documents, and exhibit lists. Under AS 12.62.160, access to certain criminal justice information follows specific rules about who can obtain it and for what purposes.
Civil case dockets show the complaint, the defendant's answer, discovery deadlines, motion hearings, trial dates, and any judgment entered. Domestic relations dockets cover divorce petitions, custody filings, support orders, and protective order applications. Probate dockets list the estate, inventory, creditor claims, and distribution orders. Juvenile and certain family law records may have restricted access. Some financial documents in civil cases may be sealed.
Note: Sealed records in any case type are noted publicly in CourtView as existing, but the content is not accessible without a court order per Alaska Administrative Rule 37.5.
